Terms of Use

Prayer Stop is free to use. These terms set out what you can expect from it, and what it does not promise.
Using the app
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Prayer Stop on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the Apple Media Services Terms and Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. Please do not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app, except where the law says you may.
Prayer times are calculated, not authoritative
Prayer times are computed on your device from your location, the date and the calculation method you choose. Methods legitimately differ, and so do local conventions for Fajr and Isha in particular. High latitudes are harder still, and around the solstices some methods produce no valid time at all.
Please treat the times as a guide and follow your local mosque or scholar where the two disagree. Prayer Stop should not be relied on as the sole authority for the timing of an obligatory act of worship.
The same applies to the qibla compass, which depends on your device's magnetometer and can be thrown off by metal, magnets and phone cases.
Holding back apps
The pause uses Apple's Screen Time to replace the apps you chose with a prayer screen for a few minutes. It is a commitment you make to yourself, not a security control:
- You can switch it off in Prayer Stop, or revoke Screen Time permission in iOS Settings, at any time and within seconds.
- It covers only the apps you picked. Phone, Messages and emergency services are never restricted.
- It is not a parental control, and it is not a way to stop someone else using a device.
- It requires iOS 16 or later. Prayer times, qibla and the Qur'an reader work without it.
Do not rely on the pause in any situation where being briefly unable to open a particular app could cause harm.
Qur'an text
The Arabic is the Uthmani script. The English is the Saheeh International translation. Both are supplied by alquran.cloud and reproduced as received, with a short number of surahs stored inside the app so they can be read offline. Rights in the English translation belong to its publisher and are acknowledged; the app claims no ownership of it.
While every care is taken, we cannot guarantee the text is free of error, and it is not a substitute for a printed mushaf.

Some of those links are sponsored or affiliate arrangements, and they are how Prayer Stop stays free without advertising or a subscription. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content, goods or services, and any dealing you have with them is between you and them.
No warranty
Prayer Stop is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your statutory rights as a consumer under German and EU law, which are unaffected.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Prayer Stop. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
Changes and governing law
These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. They are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the country in which you live.
